Get shortcut metadata and download links as plain text.

GET

/api/shortcuts/{identifier}/version

Public

Get shortcut version number as plain text (useful for update checks). Automatically tracks version checks for analytics.

Path Parameters

identifier - The shortcut UUID or ID

Plain text version string (e.g., 1.2.3).

Use Case

Check if a new version of your shortcut is available by comparing the returned version number with your current version. Each successful version check is automatically tracked in the background for analytics - no additional API call needed.

Privacy & Tracking

Version checks are tracked automatically when this endpoint is called. Tracking uses privacy-preserving salted hashes (IP + shortcut_id + date) - no raw IP addresses are stored. Unique checks are calculated using anonymous IDs, and tracking cannot correlate across different shortcuts or days.

Get tracked download URL that redirects to latest version.

Response

HTTP 302 redirect to iCloud shortcut URL. Downloads are tracked in analytics.
