Submitting & Reviewing Shortcuts

All shortcuts go through a review process with security scanning to ensure quality.

How Submission Works

When you submit a shortcut, it goes through our review process:

  1. Create a Draft: Start by creating a draft shortcut with your iCloud sharing URL and description
  2. Submit for Review: When ready, submit your draft for review
  3. Security Scanning: Our security scanning system analyzes your shortcut for security issues
  4. Approval: Shortcuts that pass detection are approved immediately; others may require manual review

Security Review

Every submitted shortcut is analyzed by our security review system, which checks for security issues, malicious behavior, and other potential problems.

  • Security Concerns: Data exfiltration, unauthorized file operations, suspicious API calls
  • Malicious Behavior: Nested workflows, accessibility abuse, unauthorized deletions
  • Description Accuracy: Ensures your description matches what the shortcut actually does
  • Content Quality: Checks for appropriate language and meaningful functionality

Review Outcomes

Most shortcuts are approved within seconds if they pass our security checks. Manual review may be required for:

  • Shortcuts flagged by the security scanner
  • Very large shortcuts (3000+ actions)
  • Edge cases or technical issues during scanning
  • Previously rejected shortcuts that have been resubmitted

Updates to approved shortcuts also go through the same review process.

Use actions directly in your shortcuts to extend functionality and integrate with Shortcuty's services.

Shortcuty provides actions that can be used directly within the Shortcuts app. These actions extend your shortcuts with capabilities like AI integration, web search, variable management, and shortcut update checking.
