## Open in archive.is
I’ll be the first to admit this is a tad clunky, but still it’s useful and so here you go.
Open the Share Sheet on a web page or URL and select **Open in archive.is** to open the page on archive.is.
Well, almost. Wanting the page to open in Safari and not in Quick Look, I couldn’t figure out how to totally automate this and submit the request for you, so what this Shortcut does is display a very simple intermediate page with a URL field (already filled in) and an Open button. **Just tap the Open button to open the page in archive.is**. You don’t need to fill in the URL. It’s already there! Just trust in the ways of the samurai and tap Open!
For best results, on the Share Sheet, scroll to the bottom and select “Edit Actions…”. Then tap the “+” icon next to **Open in archive.is** to pin it to the top.
It will also work if you copy a URL and then run the shortcut.
## Why?
Good question. Archive.is archives and displays archived web pages. It also happens to bypass most paywalls. Not all, but many. Depending on if archive.is itself is blocked or not, it can also bypass web page blocks.
Note that if no one has already archived a page you are trying to view, archive.is will first need to archive the page which can take some time, but then it will open. If it was already archived it will open immediately.
I did not create archive.is, only this shortcut to open web pages there.
Any issues? Report them and I will fix it!
